Do you need a cake fix?

We all need a little cake fix now and again, so it comes as a great relief to myself and fellow residents of Chesterfield that Love Candy Cakes has opened her doors to the sugar starved masses.  Baking everything from crumbly, nutty cookies to exquisitely crafted cupcakes and triple layered red velvet cake. I could go on, but I fear for my safety having had a little drool on my keyboard!

As well as making the most beautiful wedding cakes, you can now visit Candy from Wednesday through to Saturday and pick up a little box of whatever you fancy.  Go on, treat yourself... and remember to drop one off at my studio, banana and toffee cupcakes send me all funny at the knees.

While you're perusing the glorious goodies on offer, you may notice some rather chic little signs!  I took Candy's logo and redesigned the swirl to create for her an eclectic mix of labels, tent cards and tags that she can customise in house. I also created a new opening hours sign for her which, from her squeals of delight, I think she was rather pleased with!

If you are looking to give your candy buffet that special finishing touch, or you would like a large sign printed to send your party guests in the right direction, or perhaps use as a table plan, then you know where to find me... probably with crumbs around my mouth!

If you visit Love Candy Cakes on Facebook, you can print off a voucher for 20% off her delicious treats between 9th and 10th May.

With love, Hannah

party invitations for a...

Just to make a change from weddings, I have happily been designing a Sweet Sixteenth invitation for Casey whose requests were pink, glitter and diamantés to match her marquee celebration.

I started off with 'Stiff Upper Lip' as it has a slight carnival feel, which would work so well with all the fairy lights, candy floss machine and pink chocolate fountain!  From here, I took the ornate shape and played around with double layers, stripes and contrasting fonts for a contemporary feel.

This really got me in the carnival mood, and gave me the idea of designing an actual old fashioned ticket, with 'admit one' and this glorious carnival font.  I am particularly pleased with the curved corners and the sparkly background card - the glitter adds an elaborate twist too.  I hope these are sparkly enough for her!

As always, if you're interested in any of my designs, please get in touch!

yes, I do like to be...

When Emma & Simon contacted me last month regarding their seaside celebration at Scarborough, I was literally bursting with ideas for their wedding invitation design.  After going back and forth with suggestions we settled on the concept of a beach hut and I then incorporated little hearts, bunting,  sand dunes, pebbles and even tiny starfish and a crab with sparkly eyes.

To be honest I can't believe I haven't designed a beach hut invitation before.  They epitomise all the romance of the British seaside along with the quirky details and surroundings that I love to draw!

As with all my designs, the invitation can be printed in any colour you choose, with any of the design features altered to suit your style.  And you needn't go for a traditional folded invitation, why not embrace the theme and send your guests postcard versions?

This design would look great with bright candy stripes, or it could be given a vintage twist with a change of font and muted pastels!

So for all those ladies thinking about popping the question today, I suggest you Kiss Him Quick, treat him to a fish supper and snuggle up on a pair of stripy deckchairs.  Ooh, we do like to be beside the seaside...

With love (and sand between your toes) Hannah

Ooh, is it time for a few...

Has anyone noticed that every few days the sun keeps popping his head out sporting a big smiley grin and a cheery hat?  Actually, to be fair, as I type this, the drizzle is rattling down, and what was a picture of springtime bliss just 24 short hours ago is now rather unappealing and a little damp around the edges.

Nevertheless, the nights are pulling out and I will soon be dusting off the Pimms as Easter sneaks up on us.  Hoorah!  This year, you don't have to be tying the knot in order to enjoy some Little Fish goodies as I have just designed a range of rather scrumptious Easter decorations to festoon your home and garden.  So whether you fancy a few cards, some paper chains, Easter Egg Hunt Cones or bunting, look no further than my Not on The High Street store front for ideas and inspiration.

And do I need to tell you it's all personalised?  No, I thought not!

I hope you enjoy some of the snap shots from yesterday's photo shoot.  The plan was to have a fabulous photo of all the children happily munching chocolate from their cones.  However, the boys discovered the hose pipe, the water supply, a large patch of mud and three willing chickens.  Thank goodness for Daisy!

Have a super day.  With love, Hannah

no time for Christmas cards...

If, like me, you adore Christmas and embrace all that is festive about the season of goodwill, but then find (to your horror) that the last posting date has sidled past and your box of beautifully embellished cards are still cocooned in their shrink wrap, then I have a solution to pop a little January cheer in the post.

I designed these curious little robin cards for my Not on the High Street store front and they have been really well received.  You can choose from several messages in including 'New Year Wishes From...' and 'With Love and Thanks From...' and what's more, they are personalised with a name of your choice. Smashing!

At £11.95 for a box of eight, they won't break the bank and let's face it, Great Aunt Milly who is still eagerly awaiting the postman in the hope for a sign that you survived the office party/nativity/mulled wine and mince pie-fest, will be over the moon with the wintery wonderfulness of it all.

Be good, love, Hannah x

not just for weddings...

Well... to say that the end of last year was hectic would be the understatement of the New Year.  With weddings on either side of the globe, film crews from Four Weddings following me round as I hastily sewed a bridesmaid back into her oversized dress and the launch of my sparkly new store front on Not on the High Street, Christmas was almost put on the back boiler!

Luckily my family stepped in at 8pm, promptly, on the 23rd, took away my phone, notepad and laptop and forced (yes forced) me to eat several tins of Quality street, open the Baileys and excitedly await the arrival of Santa.

So to all my Little Fish Fans, I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and have skipped happily into 2012 with a smile on your dial and a spring in your step!  My resolution? To get on with my Blog and make sure I update at least once a week - so enough chitter chatter, let's get on with it!

After years pouring over the pages of the delectable on-line shopping site, Not on the High Street, I thought I would ask nicely if I could peddle some of my wares with them.  Luckily they accepted my designs with open arms and at last I have been able to put an end to my nagging friends and colleagues who pester me for personalised stationery.

So far there are twelve products available, but watch this space for updates as I launch more items over the coming months... I just need to work out how to use my new camera... and flash gun... details, details.

If you're interested in Children's party stationery, there is a great range of fully personalised invites which you literally need to write the name on and pop in the envelope.  Of course, I made co-ordinating items and offer matching thank you cards and 'colour me in' cards for your creative little darlings to doodle on.  Watch this space for the cutest paper party bags with mini swing tags. Lush!

And for ladies, and gents, who appreciate a postman who delivers a little love, as opposed to an ugly bill, there are boxes of personalised note cards.  I had an wonderful email from a customer who described them as 'exquisite'. The come in a box of eight and make perfect gifts or indeed presents for yourself.  Please click this link for more details on how to order.

And while you're having a little nosey, why not pick your favourite design and 'like' or 'tweet' it?  Ooh, you are good to me!
