This Month's Top Tip

From Fashion Fever

A live band is a great way to inject energy and atmosphere into your wedding reception and with a little planning you can ensure they perform at their best. In this Month's Top Tip, musician and performer Mick Howcroft from the fabulous 'Fashion Fever' shares his sectret for a successful event.

number one; don't skimp on the DJ
All performers need a break, so booking a DJ as well as a band is fundamental for an entertaining evening! The DJ can warm up the audience before the band perform, play in the interval and finish off the evening after the band have finished - so the music's non stop. Ensure the DJ & band communicate beforehand so they don't repeat songs.

number two; all change
Make sure you have organised somewhere for the band to change. Asking them to share the space in the washrooms with your guests is no fun for anyone! Give the job of welcoming the band and showing them where everything is to a friend or family member, so you're free to enjoy your wedding.

number three; fed and watered
you may have chosen your dream band from all over the country, so be sensitive that they may need some refreshments after a long journey. Ask your caterer to provide a platter of sandwiches and plenty of drinks so they're on top form for the evening ahead, it'll be thoroughly appreciated!
