With over ten years photography experience in the sectors of weddings, fashion, interiors and editorial, Darren Cresswell is a fabulous choice for any bride and groom looking for exquisite shots. Here, in our first Expert Advice, he gives us his three top tips on getting the snaps you want.
number one; be selective
If you like the quirky, whimsical and candid shots that you have seen in your photographers portfolio, then give them the freedom and the time to have the best possible chance of replicating the style for you. Don’t drown them with a group shot list as long as their arm – and then be disappointed that you only have a few reportage style shots in your album! Relax and enjoy it.
number two; ask a favour
Give the wish list of photographs to someone you trust, so they can keep it with them on the day. Choose someone with bags of confidence, who knows most of the family and who has a loud voice! It means your photographer/s can get on with taking great candid photos while someone ensures the right people are lined up for the next shot. It makes the whole process run much more smoothly.
number three: Trust them
Your photographer will have been to many, many weddings and so trust them when they suggest certain angles or poses. Try not to feel self conscious and just have great fun with it – the end result will be worth every giggle.
